Chair: Dr. James Galvin, SERDP and ESTCP
Keynote: Ms. Merrill Smith, U.S. Department of Energy – Office of Electricity Delivery & Energy Reliability
Description: The leaders at many military installations are creating microgrids to increase energy security in the event the main electric grid fails. Microgrids can improve operating efficiency, enhance the use of renewables, and reduce energy costs through effective energy management. This session highlighted microgrid design and implementation initiatives and described current efforts aimed at achieving broad-scale microgrid implementation on DoD installations.
